An unprecedented 9 WWC lifters competed at the Invitational competition at Warley on Sunday 3rd December.

The day started off strongly with Charlie in the first women’s group hitting competition PBs in snatch (53kg), clean and jerk (71) and total (124), in only her second competition.

In the second group, Luke gave a good account of himself, considering this was his second competition in 8 days! Dom hit a huge snatch PB (103kg) and bagged a nice clean and jerk PB too (121kg), narrowly missing out on 125kg – we’re sure he will get the two reds next time out. Wern hit some good numbers (106kg / 137kg) considering he only arrived back from his holiday¬† a couple of days before the competition.

In the second women’s group, new member Bryony performed excellently with 6 out of 6 lifts and a 169kg total that gives her English and British championships qualification. Bobbie showed great mental toughness to get her third C+J attempt to finish with 79kg / 96kg for a 176kg total.

The final group of the day brought out Ivan, who secured English Championships qualification with a snatch of 105kg and a clean and jerk of 136kg. Josh also hit the qualification totals with 114kg / 141kg. David, after a monumental effort to get down to weight in the last 24 hours, managed 114kg / 140kg, narrowly missing out on English qualification. The final lifter of the day was Aidan, who absolutely smashed 136kg / 167kg

All in all, it was a fantastic day of competition lifting.
